HOW AEROS EVBA SOLVES AIRSHIP ENGINEERING’ CORE LIMITS

For a century, airships have been stuck in a physics trap: unload cargo, lose control. Period.

Like a balloon slipping from a child’s grasp, traditional airships surge skyward uncontrollably the moment cargo is removed. This buoyancy paradox has been the Achilles’ heel of airship design, forcing operators to rely on complex ballast systems, massive ground infrastructure, or large support crews—preventing airships from becoming a viable option for global cargo transport.

While others failed to solve it, Aeros did.

Beyond Conventional Airships: The Unprecedented Aeros Approach

Aeros has engineered a new class of airship—built on patented solutions that overcome the core physical limitations of airship design.

Control of Static Heaviness (COSH)

Our patented COSH system is the breakthrough that finally resolves the buoyancy paradox. By compressing inert helium during flight—much like a submarine precisely manages its depth—COSH allows the eVBA to adjust its buoyancy on demand, enabling true vertical takeoff and landing without ballast or external assistance.

Rigid Structure

While conventional airships rely on pressurized fabric envelopes (where small tears can lead to catastrophic failure), our approach uses a fundamentally different three-layered rigid design: a lightweight carbon-fiber geodesic internal frame absorbing primary loads, a rigid aeroshell maintaining aerodynamic shape, and an advanced composite external skin delivering durability with exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.

The structure eliminates traditional vulnerabilities while reducing weight and cost, providing superior damage tolerance, and improving aerodynamics—allowing safe operation across diverse environment.

Air Bearing Landing System (ABLS)

To complement in-flight buoyancy control, Aeros introduced the Air Bearing Landing System (ABLS), which replaces conventional landing gear usually found on airplanes. The system allows landings on unimproved surfaces—even water—while minimizing friction during taxiing. Its strong suction grip ensures stable ground operations anywhere.

These integrated systems result in a fundamentally different airship design, enabling:

  • True vertical takeoff and landing with full payload
  • Hover capability for cargo loading/unloading anywhere
  • Independence from runways, ports or ballast exchange
  • Allterrain operation on any surface, including water
  • Enhanced safety through elimination of pressure-dependent failures
  • Zero emissions from hydrogen fuel cell propulsion
  • Superior cargo capacity (9-244 metric tons depending on model)
  • Unmatched versatility for remote, humanitarian, and commercial applications

While digital innovation accelerates at light speed, global logistics system remains stuck in the past—ships crawl across oceans, planes depend on sprawling runways, and trucks and trains require infrastructure that much of the world simply lacks. As urban congestion and environmental concerns grow, alternative modes of freight movement that reduce emissions and infrastructure dependence are increasingly under consideration.

Developed to address long-standing challenges, the Aeros eVBA is making lighter-than-air transport practical and adaptable for real-world logistics. Join us in bringing it to life.

Aeros is a global leader in designing, FAA certifying, manufacturing, and delivering advanced airships and aerostats worldwide. For over a century, airships have faced a fundamental challenge—losing stability as cargo is unloaded. Competitors have failed to solve this. Aeros has not only solved it—we’ve patented it. Like a submarine adjusting depth, our aircraft control buoyancy in real-time, enabling unrestricted logistics from transcontinental freight to last-mile delivery—without ground infrastructure. To learn more, visit www.Aeroscraft.com
